Manatees prefer water over 68 degrees so that makes the local Springs and Estuaries, between November-April, one of the best places in the world to visit with this rare animal.

A popular destination for tubing, canoes, and kayaks. It has primitive camping and a nice swimming area with crystal clear water. A great day trip.

Fort Island Gulf Beach and its trail is a nice place to soak up some sun and experience a Florida beach without all the crowds and traffic.
Lake Rousseau is approximately 12 miles long, one mile wide and covers some 3700 acres. It is home to Large Mouth Bass, Catfish and Large Shellcrackers. The lake at one time held the Florida record for largest Bass caught in Florida. We are also close to the ocean for those that prefer the Saltwater variety.
